- Are you willing to gamble with all you’ve worked so hard to save?
- How would you pay bills and put food on the table if you lost your income?
• Most clients already own life insurance. You can show that the risk of disability is greater than the risk of premature death.

 
  2. Education
• Disability insurance protects income earners from the risk of becoming unable to work due to an injury or illness
• When a person is disabled, their regular financial obligations persist. Plus medical expenses associated with the disability are added to the burden

 
  3. Start the Conversation
• Focus on the need, not the product
- Start the conversation. By asking questions like:
a. What is important to you?
b. How do you spend your money?
- Once you’ve learned what makes them tick, get clients to think about what would happen to the things they value in the event an illness or injury put them out of work and their income stopped.
a. What would happen if you could no longer work and suddenly lost your income?
b. How would you pay the bills and keep up with your responsibilities?
c. What impact would this have on your family?

• You can work the individual market or the business multi-life market using the same base disability income products.

- Maximum monthly benefit: $5,000
- Elimination periods: 0, 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days
- Benefit period: 3, 6, 12 and 24 months
• Short-Term Disability
- Maximum monthly benefit: $5,000
- Elimination periods: 0/7 (accident/sickness), 7, 0/14, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days
- Benefit period: 3, 6, 12 and 24 months
